Already during my training as a visual artist at the academy in Den Bosch, I came into contact with the concept of “ensoulment” — not as a theoretical idea, but as the living core of my artistic practice. One of my teachers inspired me to give form to this inner essence in my work. Afterwards, he invited me to remain close to this core for the rest of my life as an artist. I have done so. As a painter, I have built up a broad body of work in which I try to give the human presence a face. My work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally, is held in the collections of museums and private collectors, and still, each new painting feels like a new step in my journey.
